Our 10-Year Strategic Vision

Fair Chance identifies and partners with nonprofits who offer critical services that research shows put children on a pathway to success. We offer free workshops, coaching, and training to build stronger organizations and foster long-term growth.

Children, youth, and families served by our alumni

Nearly 20% of children in the U.S. live below the federal poverty level.

Poverty rates for youth are increasing across the nation but these rates are even more pronounced where racial inequities and systemic barriers exist. Community-based nonprofits step in to fill critical gaps, but like the youth they serve, they face big challenges such as:

Small budgets

Lack of access to resources and funding

Working in isolation and many more

That’s where Fair Chance comes in.

We believe that small, community-based nonprofits are critical players in combating the effects of poverty on children. Here is how we support organizations:

1. Introductory Programs: Grow number of organizations that understand the fundamentals of building a strong nonprofit.
2. Partnership Programs: Delivery long-term, customized coaching and training to transform systems and practices leading to growth.
3. Network Services: Offer ongoing training, resources, and opportunities for peer learning to support nonprofit resiliency.
4. Advocacy and Outreach: Advocate for policies and practices that benefit community-based nonprofits.

STORIES OF IMPACT

Since 2002, we have served over 200 nonprofits in Washington, DC and Prince George’s County, MD. Results show that nonprofits that complete a Fair Chance Partnership go on to double their budget and double the number of children they serve — providing more opportunities and access to those most affected by poverty.
