Community Educational Research Group (CERG) has begun construction on the expansion of its 4021 Minnesota Ave site after having been awarded an expansion grant from the LIIF foundation . This work will add space for 45 new infant & toddlers and kicks off with a much needed roof replacement. The site will open on September 1st.
Community Youth Advance is proud to celebrate their class of 2020 seniors. These young men, members of our Mentoring to Manhood (M2M) program, represent a 100% program graduation rate. Many of these young men have been members of M2M since 6th and 7th grade and we are honored to have walked with them on their journey to this milestone. We share in the joy of each family represented in our class of 2020 and we look forward to continuing to support them as they chase their dreams.
The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education (FAME) was one of 32 organizations nation-wide to receive a grant from The Lewis Prize for Music’s COVID-19 Community Response Fund. The grant was given to organizations that “adapted and responded to the pressing needs of the young people they serve amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Generation Hope released a report, Uncovering the Student Parent Experience and its Impact on College Success, which features new data on student parents’ experience in college, and recommendations for how higher education can support student parents’ college success. Generation Hope also launched an emergency support program to help colleges prevent drop-out of vulnerable students as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and announced Montgomery College as its first institutional partner.
One Common Unity is seeking participants for their Fly By Light National Training. This 40-hour training is a dynamic and highly interactive certification program for educators, teachers, youth workers, community organizers, artists, and activists from around the country who are passionate about integrating and deepening their knowledge and skills in trauma-informed care, mindfulness, arts empowerment, restorative justice, conflict resolution, social-emotional literacy, and community organizing campaigns. The training is split into two sessions: Session I: July 20th to July 24, 2020 and Session II: August 21; September 4, 18; October 2, 16, 2020 . Learn more and register here.
